Oskar Blues – Beers of the week

Oskar Blues – Beers of the Week at RBar. We have Beerito (on draft), Old Chub and Mama’s Little Yella Pils in cans.

We have the Old Chub (can), a Scottish Ale, malty deliciousness! Mama’s Old Tells Pils (can), a good refreshing pilsener. And Beerito (draft), a Mexican lager but so much better!! Great beer, great price and they give back where they can (pun intended!!)

Old Chub (Can – 8%! ABV)

Very good scotch ale. Nice color, clear, dark amber. Good head retention. Unblushing sort of taste that appeals to my pallet. No alcohol taste but still 8% ABV. Hint of sweetness and absolutely no bitterness. One I will drink again.

Mama’s Little Yella Pils (Can – 5.3% ABV)

Mama’s Little Yella Pils from Oskar Blues is a very simple , yet very good pilsner. Drank this one right out of a can at a picnic . The temp was 90 degrees plus and the beer was so good and soooo cold. This is a very crisp and clean pilsner. Very drinkable, super smooth and very good ! Nice job Oskar Blues , but then again , Oskar, usually does not disappoint and remains one of the big dogs who should be on the Mt Crushmore of American craft beer!

Beerito (Draft 4.00% ABV)

When I saw this advertised as a Mexican Lager and the abv listed as 4%, I expected a Corona knock-off. I was pleasantly surprised.

Pours a light brown color with golden edges. The nose has notes of nuts and sweet malt. The flavor profile follows the nose with a really pleasant sweet malty finish. The flavor is tremendous for such a low abv offering.

Come and try an Oskar Blues beer at RBar this week. Or try them all!

Oskar Blues recently stopped kegging and canning beer for a short time to concentrate instead on canning water to send as flood relief in Louisiana. Here’s a Fox7 report…
